What is the pattern tester?
The pattern tester lets you preview how any image looks when it's repeated as a seamless pattern. Upload a tile, tweak the spacing and offset, and instantly see the result in the live preview.
Does it work with ProCreate?
Yes, the pattern tester works with ProCreate. You can drag a layer from ProCreate into the pattern tester to immediately see how it looks as a seamless pattern.
Which file types are supported?
You can upload JPG, PNG, SVG, GIF, BMP, WebP and AVIF images. SVGs and transparent PNGs work well, too, since you can pair them with a custom background color.
How does the tile size work?
The tile size sets the rendered width of each tile in pixels. The height scales automatically to keep the original aspect ratio of your uploaded pattern image. By default the tile is sized so that four tiles fit per row.
What do horizontal and vertical distance do?
Distance is the gap between the tiles. Horizontal distance adds space between tiles in a row, vertical distance adds space between rows. Set both to zero to make tiles touch edge-to-edge.
What is the offset for?
Offset shifts the entire pattern. Offset left moves the whole grid horizontally, offset top moves it vertically. This is useful for fine-tuning where the pattern starts within the canvas.
Can I change the background color?
Yes. The background color is rendered behind the tiles, which is helpful when working with transparent SVGs or PNGs. You can find the color picker under Advanced settings.
